LUXE Destination Weddings

For the longest time, I was planning on getting married at home and having a large wedding at a local venue. My mother and i planned everything and we were ready to send out invites when i realized this was not what i wanted. I spoke to a few friends who had gone to a destination wedding in Jamaica and i started to get interested. The thought of having an intimate group of friends and family join us away became so much more appealing than what we had planned. I was referred to Luxe Destination Weddings by my aunt who sent me a link to an interview about them in the Globe and Mail. To be honest, when i called, i didnt know anything about destination weddings, and i was a bit scared, everyone was telling me something different and my head was spinning. I spoke to Jessica and she spent a lot of time talking to me about destination weddings in general. I probably called her 10 times over a few weeks and asked her a ton of questions. She was great, and i started to feel more comfortable with the whole idea. She really helped me to understand the pros and cons and was a great resource. i finally decided that this was what i wanted to do, and i hired Luxe to handle everything. This was the best decision i made. The first challenge was figuring out where and when, and i worked with Mandy looking at several options. Almost daily i would call Mandy with a new list of hotels i had seen online, and she would help sort through them with me, and keep me focused. I quickly realized that Mandy knew what she was talking about and i let her guide the process. In the end, we chose the RIU Negril, and it was perfect for us. Fast forward a few months, and Mandy and her team had made all of the travel arrangements for my family and friends, and Alexandra was working with me to plan the wedding of my dreams. Of course there were bumps in the road, like when the flights changed or we couldnt get the musician i wanted for our wedding night, but overall it was a fun process and i definitely could not have done it without the help. My family and friends had the best time, and everyone is already asking me when we are going to have a reunion. I had so much fun, and i am truly grateful for all of the help i received from the people at Luxe. i told Jessica if anyone ever wants to speak to me, to refer them to me, having spent a year working with everyone there and going through the process, i hope to be able to help future brides who were in my position get the information they need to make the right decision. For me, a destination wedding was the best choice i could have made, and having the support of Luxe from day one was a saviour.

I went to my friends wedding at Azul Beach in Mexico. It was the best trip i have ever gone on. We spent a week at this beautiful hotel and spent time with old friends celebrating together. I personally only booked my travel with luxe, and it was a great experience. They were professional, easy to deal with and very helpful helping my family with all of the special arrangements we needed to make for our young children. In speaking to other people who went, everyone shared a similar experience with luxe. Our group coordinator was Menisha, and she was great. I do know that the bride and groom loved their wedding planner, although i am not sure the woman's name they worked with. The hotel was incredible, especially for kids. The actual wedding was perfect, not a cloud in the sky on the beach. All in all, a great experience.

I was a guest at a wedding that took place in Mexico recently. This company was terrible from Day 1. Menisha was the travel corrdinator and was awful to work with. She only returned emails after the bride and groom had her manager, Anne, involved. When she did respond to emails she never provided the information requested. When it came to pament, she either overcharged or forgot to charge guests and again the bride and groom had to step in. When it came time for travel documents, they were not provided until the day before departure when the bride and groom again had a conference call with management. The poor bride and groom had the most stressful time trying to have their guests travel arrangements made. The transfer arrangements to and from the airport/hotel were a nightmare for the majority of the guests including having to pay their own way when the bus did not show. This company has NO work ethic, are lazy, lack any knowledge of customer service and I would never suggest anyone use them.

My wife and i had a magical wedding last week, it was amazing! We got married on the beach at sunset, and later had a huge beach party, everyone was dancing, we had a mojitos station, reggae music, it was the best wedding ever. We are from Vancouver and had family and friends come with us from across the country and even some family from Europe. I knew about Luxe Destination Weddings because i went to a co-worker's wedding in Jamaica a few years ago and they loved working with the people at LUXE. in short, they were everything they promised to be and more. I first spoke to Jessica and warned her that i had a large family coming from all over and things could get tricky, lets just say i did not want to have to deal with my own family members. THANK YOU CARLA!! My wife worked with Alexandra for the wedding planning and had only great things to tell me, to be honest i was not too involved in that side of things. But i do know that my wife and i and all of our friends and family loved the wedding, we had the best time, and so did everyone who came with us. Luxe, i cannot thank you enough, if any of your clients want to speak directly to a happy groom, please have them call me. We love you guys, you are the best! PS i love the new offices, so happy we came by to meet you in person.

I was just married at the Aqualina resort in Miami Florida and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank LUXE! Wow, I worked with Rebecca I don't know where to begin to thank her. We hired Luxe destination weddings in may of 2011 with planning our wedding for February of 2012. I thought I would take a minute to share my experience. We were assigned to Mandy as our travel agent. She was really great. The travel experience was not perfect, but when i look back on it- it was really my family that was causing me so much stress. Everyone always had something to say!! To all destination wedding brides out there- it's your wedding and you should do what you want to do! Anyways, Mandy helped us every step of the way, she was wonderful. We chose the Azul Sensatori in the Mayan Riviera and would recommend to any bride!! If you are looking for a hotel that is family friendly and very high quality, the Sensatori is a great choice! Alexandra was our wedding planner and we absolutely adore her. She was so efficient and sweet and most of all helped us create our dream wedding. I work in sales and am constantly on the road so really have very limited time to email resorts, nor am I the type to have the patience for it! We chose the Luxe service package where Alexandra joined us for our wedding day. Our ceremony out on the sky deck almost didn't happen- the clouds rolled in but luckily no rain! It was magical and would not have been the same without alexandra there with us. She was a godsend! Luxe was a great choice for us. I would recommend it to any busy couple looking for a destination wedding planner! It is a strange feeling not having anything to plan with Alexandra and Mandy moving forward- I will truly...

I got married less then two weeks ago and i'm already back and raving about it. We got married at the Azul Sensatori in the Mayan Riviera on the sky deck and it was breathtaking. I felt luck the luckiest princess in the world (really, not just saying it!). The whole day the clouds loomed around and we got a drizzle of rain just a few moments before our ceremony started, but then it broke and cleared up and we had the most beautiful night ahead of us. From the staff at Luxe Destination Weddings being so loving to me, to the staff onsite at the Azul Sensatori, I couldn't have asked for a better combo. We had guests flying in from Toronto, Calgary, Phoenix, Los Angeles and New Jersey so seeing everyone together was really amazing. Our event ended around eleven, so the whole group (including my parents!) all gathered around the pool together and made our own party continue into the night. Gotta love the all inclusive hotels for these type of situations! I was in love with how both our friends and and family got along so well and how accommodating the staff at the Sensatori were to us being a little bit rowdy late into the night. Thank you Luxe and Azul Sensatori for a memorable destination wedding.

Save your money. This company does nothing but try to push you to the same hotel chains that they probably get refferal $$ from and basically all they do is take what you tell them and relay info to the hotel wedding planner. They are not planners but order takers. And you have to deal with a different person for each section of the weeding. They basically never pick up when you call, take forever to return messages because they are always "in a meeting". Trust me, we wish we never had hired this company and put the $$$ towards the wedding. The only person that made some kind of effort to resolve our issues was Rebecca. But unfortunately it only came after we got super upset and like a week before our wedding. Imagine our stress level...

My husband and I and 85 other people attended the wedding of the daughter of a friend of our on January 27th at the Sandos Caracol Resort in Playa de Carmen. From the time we put our deposit down on the vacation (1 year in advance) the whole experience was fraught with frustration and unprofessionalism. We had a number of different agents handling this holiday and it seemed every time we tried to get any answers, our calls were not returned. The only time Luxe was in contact was when they wanted more money. We, personally, received our tickets less than a week before our departure. The bride and groom had paid for services for their guests that we never received. We also had a friend attending that had had two knee replacements operations. I explained to Joe one year before we left that we would have to be near her and she would have to be in a room on the main floor. I explained again a few months later and followed up with a letter so they would have it on file. Of course, when we got down there she was on the second floor and would have had to walk up (WITH A WALKER!!!). Totally unacceptable! The resort got her a main floor room but on the other side of the resort from the rest of us. They stayed there until they could move AGAIN to be closer to our group. The mother of the bride had, specifically asked for an ocean view room, about 9 months before the wedding. Less than a month before we left she was informed she couldn't have it. No appology, no reason. Of course once we all got settled and were together, we did enjoy ourselves and our complaints were really with Luxe not the resort. All in all an experience that I would not like to repeat. My advice for any prospective brides that are reading this and looking for a destination planner - keep looking.

My husband and I tied the knot in St. Lucia. We got married in the late afternoon, hillside at the Windjammer Landing Resort. It was a stunning experience and something our guests have repeatedly told us they will never forget. "Best wedding ever" is the feedback. Yay! A bit of background -I hired Luxe as my planner and travel agent using the opulence package, and my experience was great. Service was top notch, the hotel selection just perfect, I just loved Windjammer so much as it was so beautiful in St. Lucia. What a memorable and beautiful experience. I feel very blessed that I was able to have such a dream weeding and I'd like to thank Luxe and the staff at Windjammer (shout out to Simone!) for an amazing time and for caring so much about our group. We got married on January 16, 2012 at the Riu Negril. We found Luxe online and ended up purchasing the opulence package. All the other destination wedding companies websites looked so cheesy. We are very chilled out kind of people so maybe that is why we have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. I can imagine others get worked up for no good reason. We initially were looking at March of 2012 but got really nervous about the pricing coming back so high. With Amanda's recommendation we were able to get rates that were wayyyyy cheaper. They had a list of properties for us to choose from where they get special rates if we wanted and we decided to go with the riu. They only wish I had was to have a bigger budget. We went with the first package which is 5 hours of wedding planning. Alexandra was so nice and made things so easy, we wish we would have had more hours to spend with her. The hotel was not as excited as alex to be helping me plan my wedding but were super great on the day of.

We used Luxe with our destination wedding plans. I had attended a Luxe wedding they did about three or four years ago, which is exactly when I knew I was going to have a destination wedding when my time. I called them up when I got engaged and they directed me to Jamaica for my wedding (the wedding I went to before was in Mexico, so I wanted to go somewhere new). It took a little while longer than I'd hoped to finalize our hotel as I was very conscious of getting good rates for our group. But with a little negotiation, they were able to help me get the rates I wanted at the Riu. We got a lot of pressure from our parents so once we finally put our deposits down, I was really relieved. Once that was in order and we saved our wedding date on the Riu website online, I took a break before getting into my wedding plans. We didn't use one of their bigger planning packages as my budget didn't allow, so I did a bunch of the planning work on my own, which was actually REALLY slow, but working with Alexandra really helped steer me on the right path. She had creative suggestions and I ended up bringing some gorgeous paper flowers and fans for decorations. When I got back, we debriefed and I can honestly say that the overall experience was positive and helpful. If you've never attended a destination wedding, hopefully you'll get invited to one soon because its really the most incredible experience you could have. I am soooo happy that we had a destination wedding! Thanks for your help Luxe and all the wonderful staff at Riu.

I can't believe its over! What an amazing experience from our engagement until our honeymoon. I got married at the Dreams Palm Beach resort in Punta Cana and then we took a separate honeymoon to Thailand (which was amazing). I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Luxe on a job well done. I know that it's not an easy job to do, especially with a large group, and I also know that planning a destination wedding is not always a perfect easy flowing thing. I knew this going into it, as it's a lot to ask people to come. The only downfall is that one of my best friends didn't come because they just had a baby and didn't want to travel to Dominican with a 1 month old. Other than that, we give the planning portion a thumbs up. The service from day one was really top notch and I know (from working in the service industry) that businesses don't always get the recognition they deserve, so I thought it would be appropriate to do so with this review. I could tell that both Amanda and Rebecca actually cared about me, and that really goes a long way when planning your own wedding. She offered great ideas and went above and beyond what she was supposed to do for me. If you are planning a destination wedding, then Luxe is the expert company to use. They've been doing the travel and planning thing longer than most of the other companies I interviewed, so I relied on their expertise… and I can honestly say it pay off. I'm compelled to be on this forum now to praise when it's justified to do so.

I just wanted to take a few minutes and share my Luxe experience. I called Luxe in April to know more about what they do. The website was beautiful but I couldn't seem to find their service packages. I called and the girl I spoke to was so responsive and professional, a VERY different experience from the other companies I was calling (I had left inquiries for both local and destination vendors as I was still deciding the route I was going to take and some of them didn't even send an email response for two weeks!) Anyways, we went with the Opulence package. Anne was my travel account manager and she is just a wonderful person and is so knowledgeable! The rates she got us were amazing and we are headed to the Half Moon in Jamaica! We have started working with Alex and she is more than lovely, she has such elegant taste which is great as I had no idea what I wanted to do! Not even which colours I wanted! Anyways, Luxe has been awesome and I more than recommend them

My FI and I began working with the Luxe team in June 2010. We were a little skeptical after reading the reviews but in my honest opinion I truly believe that those post were either the competition or just brides who thought they were magicians as opposed to a wedding planning team. This first part of my review will be dedicated to the entire planning process and then I will post the review of the wedding. We did have a few changes early on with our Travel coordinator and I am happy that we did because we would have missed out on Mandy’s great work ethic. She has been so hands on and has definitely taken ALL of the headache out of the booking procedure. After much deliberation my FI and I decided to get married at the Paradisus Punta Cana in Punta Cana, DR and I couldn’t be more thrilled with our decision. Mandy was very vocal in assuring us that that was a wonderful property and that she has been on that site for numerous weddings. All of my guest spoke highly of her and I cannot begin to describe all of the great things she had done to ease my worries about deposits and everything. I can’t emphasize how she always kept me up to date with any new developments and I couldn’t have been more grateful. Up until the last days before we left to attend my wedding she was still so helpful, suggestive and jovial (I know my group was definitely a handful). My wedding coordinator, Alexandra, was wonderful. The closer I got to my date the less desire I had to keep planning because it was just so overwhelming, but she was so motivating by providing me with all the answers to my questions. My FI and I incorporated a football theme into our wedding without focusing on a specific team and it was difficult. But Alexandra researched and suggested everything from mini football candies to football shot glasses. I also love the fact that she handled all communication with all of the vendors INCLUDING the hotel. All I had to do was tell her what I wanted and with whom I wanted it with and she handled the rest of the work. Talk about peace of mind. I also love the fact that she listened to what our vision was and tried to create it for me. While I know the hotel has their own themed packages (Aqua, Chill out Chic, etc) she assured me that I would definitely have my own personal touch added to it and she was right. Both Mandy and Alexandra are great with responding to my emails. Unless they were out for a wedding or on holiday they were DEFINATELY very reliable. For all of those brides that are considering a destination wedding I would highly recommend going with Luxe Weddings. If you do have some reservations about it feel free to contact either one of them and they can give you my email address. Hi trip advisor, I am using luxe currently and wanted to share my personal experience with them. I contacted luxe through a friend who had used them and made the recommendation. At that point, I was almost out of my mind. I had not made ONE plan or put any serious thought into it as my work schedule is insane. Saying that, due to scheduling I had to get married in January of 2012! That only left me six months to choose my location, let my family know, and plan my wedding. I signed in early July, had my location selected within a week and a group rate locked down within two. I have already began planning with my planner and she is wonderful. I couldn't imagine having to do all the research and making all the calls to get this done. We are getting married the Occidental Grand Papagayo. So far, luxe has been a saviour. Alex, my wedding planner, is so thoughtful I have nothing but incredible things to say about her. I have now considered upgrading my luxe services so that she can be there to help me on my wedding day. If you want help and an amazing wedding planner, go for luxe, worth every penny!

my husband and i attended my friends wedding in mexico this year in mexico at azul beach. the bride and groom hired luxe destination weddings who did everything for them. the wedding was amazing and everyone had a great time, there were over 80 people and we spent a week together. my only contact with luxe was for booking the travel to the wedding, and they were a pleasure to work with, we had to change our plans a few times due to my work schedule, and the people i dealt with were always professional and happy to help. i heard similar feedback from other guests, and i know the bride and groom were very very happy with luxe, they said they couldnt have done the wedding without them!

My husband and i used luxe destination weddings for our recent wedding in Punta Cana. The wedding was amazing! we got married a few weeks ago at the Majestic hotel, and we couldnt have asked for anything more. Luxe was definitely worth it, we hired them to help with travel for all our friends and family and also their opulence package for the wedding planning, it was worth every cent, compared to what i had to pay for the actual wedding, having them take care of all the details was great. My wedding in Mexico was amazing! Yes, it's true. And I would like to personally thank Luxe Destination Weddings for being a huge part of this. I had a wonderful experience working with them, especially with my guests travel. I dreaded the idea of having to talk about money and travel plans with my guests as we felt sort of uncomfortable from the get go about asking people to come to our destination wedding - so Luxe took great care of this! What an outstanding service. Half way through our planning stage, we got some very sad family news and we were forced to put our plans on hold. Luxe was very accommodating to our needs and went above and beyond with our reservations to get them postponed for when we were able to go again. Also, my father is in a wheelchair and they were able to suggest the right resort to accommodate his needs. That was important for me and I needed an expert and someone "who had been there before" to make the right suggestions. I would recommend using Luxe for your destination wedding without any hesitation. Their local database in Mexico was amazing for photography and videography. I initially checkout out a few agencies, read all the online reviews and spoke with a few former clients and we took a great chance on using Luxe. I'm glad that I did. Their style, website, and decor ideas were totally in line with the kind of person I am. Personally, if a company has a cheesy or ugly website then it really speaks volumes of the kind of service and style I'm going to get for my wedding. Right? And the people were just so down to earth and like me that it seemed like the right fit. If you are on the fence, then just jump over it and hire Luxe to plan your destination wedding! We just came home from our Luxe planned wedding in Jamaica. It was just incredible and I'd like to give a sincere thank you to the team for all of their hard work and dedication. We married in Montego Bay in July under the sunny sky and danced into the night on the beach. This was always my dream to have a destination wedding, and my friends keep saying what a great wedding we had! It was honestly the best decision we made having a destination wedding because I didn't want to get married in a church at home (having attended 10 weddings last summer), and hiring professional help was well worth it. A special thank you to Amanda and the team from Luxe. A thank you well deserved.
